SUMMARY: Develop and support LIMS ecosystem (Laboratory Information Management System) with a strong background in programming skills, data analysis, and ability to drive improvements for approximately 1100 users. The position is primarily responsible for data collection, validation and storage of instrument and external data. Additionally, it requires supporting non-standard, laboratory or process control environments, lab instruments. LIMS software used for managing, tracking, and reporting laboratory data; LIMS has features (bar code labeling, automated results processing and reporting, data collection and reporting, deliverable creation to easily convey results, and quality control (QC) for compliance. The Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) product will integrate with other software related and peripheral to contribute to data management, lab records, billing products, and other software to assist with scheduling, workflow, inventory etc. LIMS must: Track and manage the data associated with samples, tests, and results. Be customizable to meet the needs of various types of laboratories and laboratory staff. Automate transcribing and taxonomic processes etc. WORK DESCRIPTION: Develops and maintains programs for a client/ server environment on Windows or Unix/Linux), using languages such as Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, C++, MS Access, SQL. Work with IT Business and IT process owner to refine specifications Use TFS Work Items and TFS Test Case Management to manage and steward development Follow and enhance to SRM development best practices Support existing LIMS subsystems, including testing and work requests. Deploy new versions as required, troubleshoot issues, develop, test and recommend solutions. In addition, build upon previous work to solve new and redefined business processes. Develop and support analytical instrument automation and data collection using existing applications developed in-house and other new applications as necessary. Work with supervising Chemists and lab technicians responsible for the instrumentation. Interface with Infrastructure Ops group and trades to establish network connectivity to instruments and servers. Chemical Inventory: Support annual physical inventory and other periodic on-demand inventories as required. Research, develop, and recommend new process/hardware/software to replace existing scanning solution. Work with Safety group responsible for regulatory compliance to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations. Learn and apply UI/ UX concepts to form design and functionality Develop estimates and manage all aspects of the build including design, development, testing, QA, UAT and migration to production and source code management Assist Run team in break-fix support for forms when required. Computing Environment: Windows Server 2008; Microsoft SQL Server 2008; BMC Service Request Management (SRM) tools; BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM) tools; additional software to be added as part of EMIT 2.0. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's (BS) degree in Engineering or Science with focus on programming or a Computer Science degree with lab/research background.
