The Chief Architect is accountable, within Strategy, Architecture and Planning for architecting and assuring the design of the IT solutions within BP's Alternative Energy, Shipping, Functions and Workplace Services organisations to meet their business goals and needs.. Accountable for the strategic architecture vision, technologies and roadmaps, the systems architecture and the technical standards and practices which underpin BP's Functions, Alternative Energy and Shipping businesses, their security and operations (> $200m pa).. The Chief Architect is accountable for all Design Authority activities across Alternative Energy, Shipping, Functions and Workplace Services to ensure timely and appropriate solution delivery.. You will be seen by commercial teams as the source of strategic guidance on the full range of IT strategy and architecture topics You will be responsible for building technical designs of services or applications and will care passionately about the integrity of the IT capabilities you develop. You will define IT strategies and future applications/services, in service of business need. You will conduct feasibility studies and compare TCO of alternative strategies, as well as manage the governance of strategy and architecture with commercial colleagues. In addition, you will manage the balance of competing financial, technical and business requirements to produce optimal strategies, portfolios of projects and underlying solution architectures.. *Technology** : You are an excellent technologist and have a passion for understanding and learning.
